In today’s retail landscape, attracting attention is no longer the challenge. Sustaining it is.
Seasonal activations remain a powerful way to drive visibility, creating timely moments that bring people into a space. At Union Square, both the Christmas and Tet Bazaar successfully drew consistent traffic to Lower Level 2, positioning it as a lifestyle destination in District 1.
But visibility is only the first step.
What truly defines impact is how people engage once they arrive.

Designing for engagement

A visitor passing through is not the same as a visitor staying.
Across both campaigns, the focus was not only on visual transformation, but on shaping how people move, interact, and spend time within the space. Check-in areas were designed as more than photo spots. They acted as natural entry points into a larger experience.

Creating reasons to stay

During the Christmas Bazaar, engagement was built around energy and interaction.
Children meeting Santa created genuine moments of joy, while voucher gifting connected these experiences directly to participating tenants. Weekend concerts introduced a social rhythm, encouraging visitors to return and spend more time in the space.
Each element worked together to turn foot traffic into participation.

Engagement evolves with context

The Tet Bazaar continued to build strong awareness and foot traffic, supported by social and on-site transformation.
Here, engagement took on a different form. More reflective, more cultural.
Experiential stalls such as fortune telling and cookie decorating introduced moments of discovery and participation, allowing visitors to engage with the space in a more relaxed and organic way. The focus extended beyond retail into shared experiences rooted in the spirit of Tet.
This reinforces a key idea. Visibility can be scaled, but engagement must be intentionally shaped.

Moving forward

Today, people do not visit retail spaces purely to shop. They come for moments, for connection, and for experiences worth sharing.
The role of activation is no longer just to attract attention, but to design what happens after.
Because while visibility brings people in, experience is what makes them stay.
